Nestled at Carey Cottage on 400 Little Harbor Road in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, GoodWork boasts a stunning facility that offers various meeting spaces for rent, with scenic views of Sagamore Creek. At the heart of GoodWork’s mission is a commitment to providing the community with affordable living, working, and meeting spaces. To that end, GoodWork provides two hours free in any meeting room to non-profits, then regular non-profit rates apply.  This benefit can be used one time per month during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. Music Room

Capacity 20-45  |  Ideal Performance & Large Meeting Space

This historic room features lavish carved linen-fold paneling & exposed beams. An LCD projector and pull-down screen allow for presentations. Built-in benches around the outside of the room and high ceilings make acoustics great for musical performances.

Nonprofit rates: $125/hour 

For-profit rates: $225/hour 

*Note on Accessibility: The historic Music Room has several steps which must be navigated for entry.  Please let us know if you have any mobility concerns in advance, and we will work to address them to the best of our ability.

Board Room

CAPACITY 10 | IDEAL FOR SMALL MEETINGS

Stretching from the front to the back of the house, the board room retains its paneled fireplace and wooden mantel with delicate dentil molding. Large sliding doors offer a view of Sagamore Creek. An elaborate built-in sideboard allows space for refreshments or meeting materials. The room is appointed with a formidable meeting table, ten navy leather executive chairs, and a 65″ Samsung wireless video display.

For-profit rates: $120/hour 

Training Room

CAPACITY 14 | IDEAL FOR PRESENTATIONS

A historic room with modern amenities and a spectacular view of Sagamore Creek. Flexible space ideal for presentations and workshops. Lightweight roll-away nesting tables and chairs allow for easy room reconfiguration. The room is equipped with a whiteboard and a 65″ Samsung wall-mounted wireless video display, webcam, and wireless mic for virtual meetings.

Nonprofit rates: $85/hour 

For-profit rates: $140/hour 

First Floor

CAPACITY VARIES | IDEAL FOR LARGER GROUPS

Includes training and board rooms, co-working hub, library, porch, sunroom, and kitchen access.  Music room not included.

Nonprofit rates: Half day $500 (4 hours), Full day $1,000 (8 hours)

For-profit rates: Half day $750 (4 hours), Full day $1,500 (8 hours)

 

Co-Working Hub

CAPACITY 6 | IDEAL FOR COLLABORATION

GoodWork’s waterfront co-working hub is the perfect open workspace for non-profit colleagues. The Hub is open Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, complimentary to non-profit organizations. It accommodates up to six people with couches, arm chairs and two high-top workstations. Please contact any GoodWork staff member to check daily availability.

Sunroom

The glass-enclosed sunroom at the Southwest corner of the cottage overlooks the grounds where the original formal ‘Italian Gardens’ once were. Guests can enjoy views of the two Venetian stone lions facing Sagamore Creek while they relax in comfortable armchairs. A mural is located on the interior wall with the lines from a poem written by English poet, Thomas Edward Brown. Historic photographs from the Portsmouth Athenaeum along the wall show the original Greco-Roman and Near-Eastern influence statues that once stood among the lush gardens. The room accommodates 8 guests in a casual setting.
